If you knew you only had a few more years to walk this earth, would it change the way you live?
Let’s say you still had to go to work every week, your family was the same, and you weren’t suddenly wealthy.
- Would you behave with integrity and honesty? Instead of hiding behind short cuts and compromise?
- Would you have boldness in sharing the live-saving truth of the Gospel with others? Instead of being afraid what someone thinks of you?
- Would you give words of love and encouragement to those around you? Instead of being critical and angry?
- Would you spend your resources of time, love and money differently? Instead of thinking of your own wants and needs?
- Would you step out in faith? Instead of letting your fears and insecurities stand in the way of your God-given dreams?
What would change in your life if you knew your time here was limited?
Because it is. We are given a few fleeting years before we pass into eternity.
To God, our life here on earth is but a moment; a breath. Think of how many breaths you take in a minute. A breath is very short and fleeting. Some days it seems like we have time to do all of the things we know God is calling us to. Other days, we wish for more hours in the day.
Time is a relative thing, but we are all given the same amount of it. Time is the great equalizer, we are all given 24/7/365 for as many years as we have here on earth.
We forget that it will end someday. Our life will be over and it will seem so brief in light of eternity that the verse above will be all too true.
[Tweet “Life here is short, life in eternity lasts forever.”]
As women of faith, we know that what we send on ahead into eternity is what matters. We know in our heads that we should set our treasures on things above; and that we should make the most of our time here on earth. We are taught that what we invest in people is what will last beyond our death.
But how do we live that out?
How do we carry out in action that which we know by faith in our hearts? Two Words:
That’s it. Be Bold. As women we often take the non-confrontational, passive approach to life. It isn’t because we are weak. It isn’t because we aren’t capable. It’s because we aren’t bold.
- We shrink back when God is telling us to stand up.
- We shut our mouths when God is telling us to speak out.
- We hold back when God is telling us go forward.
It’s time to say, “ENOUGH!” It’s time to be bold.
We serve the One and Only, All-Powerful, Almighty, Creator, Father God. No one and nothing is more powerful than God. And He is your God. And He is your Friend. And He is your biggest Cheerleader. God is rooting for you. God is ready to empower you to be bold.
“For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.” (1 Cor. 4:20)
“Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.” (Deut 18:8)
“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 1;19-20)
God’s power is for us who believe to be bold in living out what we believe. The power that parted seas and made the blind to see, is available to you and me. You and I don’t have the power to be bold in our lives, but we do have that power available to us to use.
These truths should not mire us in the guilt of wishing we had done more, or done differently; they are a call to arms, a cry of promised victory, a shout to be bold from here on out.
What about you?
How can you take one bold step today?
Do you believe God’s power can give you boldness in your life?
What fears are holding you back from bold living?
Be bold-Life is short.
