- Position elimination
There was a time, not too long ago, when I went through a period of unemployment. I sent out countless resumes that were met by a stinging silence, for months.
I had no idea what God was doing in my life, but I knew He could be trusted.
David knew a thing or two about trusting God and facing the unknown. He was chased away by his employer (King Saul), who repeatedly tried to kill him. David fled for years before he took his place as the King of Israel. A position he had been anointed into while he was still a young. Here’s what David had to say as he was facing the unknown:
“But when I am afraid,
I will put my trust in you.”
(Psalm 56:3 NLT)
Can I encourage you to read the rest of Psalm 56? It is filled with reassurance in facing the unknown, in facing those who are against you, in facing tears and fears.
Yes, it’s a scary time when you lose your job, it is easy to slip into the worry pit where you will have a difficult time climbing out of very quickly.
My household has always depended on my financial contributions. Yet, while I was unemployed, God provided.
- Friends came along side to help.
- Gift cards for grocery stores showed up in my mailbox.
- God provided EVERY need.
Eventually God also provided a job. But it was through that waiting period that I learned to trust God more deeply, walk with Him more intimately, and see His plan for me more clearly.
God had a plan all along. He knew where He was leading me, for His purposes, and for His glory.
My unemployment led me to where I am today. And it is a far better place than where I was.
If you are facing unemployment today, can I encourage you to trust God?
He knows what he is doing.
