I grew up the daughter of an undertaker. This means I was around death a lot. I recall Psalm 23 being a common Bible verse printed on the funeral program at many visitations and services. As a young girl, that verse represented a lot of sadness and loss.
Recently, a trusted friend invited me to study the 23rd Psalm. We had confided in each other that we were both struggling in a certain area of our personal life. This was also affecting our faith and work leaving both of us feeling discouraged. Suffice it to say, our tanks were feeling “tanked” in terms of this gauge of life! Our thoughts were EMPTY, and we decided that we needed to change our perspective. We wanted to adjust our attitude regarding how to think of God. Our hope was for healing and restoration and greater wholeness in our lives.
My friend and I like prints and patterns of fabric. She is a tailor and I am an image consultant. She makes and alters outer garments and I analyze and select them. We both love to enhance the outer appearance of women! My friend and I both admire new patterns and do not always appreciate outdated ones. We will tell you if a pattern is out-of-date because we like to work with new patterns-and we want you to as well-both in fashion AND in faith. The greatest eternal value comes with enhancing our inner appearance. This begins with the renewing of our minds, looking for the new patterns God is bringing into our lives.
What do you find yourself in need of today? Are you restless and afraid? Downhearted and doubtful? If you reflect on Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.” it is a calm statement of fact. God has already supplied all that is essential. Wherever you find yourself you can be assured that He provides, protects and predicts. Believe that you can work today without worrying about tomorrow. The Good Shepherd has already made wonderful plans for the life he has given you. Praise Him! Thank Him! Enjoy his beauty and glory today!
Working Women of Faith is a place of green pastures and still waters that provides a positive, hopeful faithFULL approach to life. We invite you to come to be deeply implanted in truth so you can FLOURISH in faith, work and life!
