Each of us has a story, one written purposefully, chapter by chapter,by the loving hand of God. I’m honored and humbled to share the story of Sarah Bechard, one of our new Working Women of Faith Chapter Leaders, and a long time servant in this organization.
Here’s Sarah’s story, chapter by chapter:
“Do you believe God writes every part of your life story? He was forming this “chapter” of Working Woman of Faith with me in mind before it came to be.
Chapter 1- Curiosity
In 2014, prior to being called to run a business, I began participating in a business leaders discussion group. On many occasions, I would observe intently as T.J. Tison brought her voice of wisdom to the forefront of this assembly, largely comprised of men. T.J.’s words often left me pondering about what a woman had to say about doing business God’s way.
Chapter 2-Engagement
As a new business owner searching for guidance sensitive to the needs of a Christian woman, I was finding myself at a loss for where to turn. To my disappointment, God had recently closed the door of a women’s networking group I was interested in joining and so I began reaching out to other women of faith for support. T.J. met with me personally and that is when I learned about Working Women of Faith.
Chapter 3-Serving
I believe God was opening a door to help me but He impressed upon me that instead of being served by a group, He wanted me to serve. Very much to my surprise, T.J. accepted my offer and God opened up my schedule. With the support of my family of boys, I was able to assist at all 4 WWOF location events each month for 1 year and have been active as a member to the present time. (Plus, God just absolutely knew I needed some girl germs!) T.J. allowed me to operate according to the way I was wired while I learned about pertinent work-related topics and grew in connection with real women who had a heart for God and other women.
Chapter 3-Learning
I have spent time with WWOF and its beautiful women since 2017. I have listened to T.J. as she has taught, I accessed videos from Right Now Media @ Work, I attended and became involved in other faith-based business meetings and events, and participated in leadership training through my church as well as through WWOF, led a small group, read books and engaged in personal Bible study and prayer. I have been mentored and cared for by other women and have tried to mentor others as well. I am living an imperfect work, faith and personal life but continue to persevere as a believer alongside others who are fighting the good fight.
Chapter 4-Leading
God has laid a foundation and He wants to build upon it. With love and grace He chooses where we are called to serve. We choose whether or not to respond in obedience to His initiatives. It is time for me to take swift action in light of God’s providence and divine appointment to do his timely work. I’ve watched firsthand the power and faithfulness of God unfold over the years with WWOF. T.J. Tison has made a rich investment in me and I believe I cannot be idle with this assignment. The chance to influence others for good is so desperately needed in our world today!
I am partnering with my dear friend Carolann, a true disciple-maker, to expand WWOF in our unique sphere of opportunity. By combining our gifts and strengths and helping each other in our weaknesses, we hope to serve as a model for functioning collaboratively as women of faith working for God’s Kingdom. I personally enjoy engaging with women. I want to equip them with the knowledge and experience that I have been given. May I embolden women of faith in the marketplace to make a difference to the glory of God!
Chapter 5-Your Chapter?
WWOF creates a genuine space for Christian women in the workforce to be seen, heard and known and to develop in a community where they feel valued and respected. Together we learn from relevant content, share insights, inspire and encourage one another and access resources in order to be filled up in the areas of work, life and faith. Then we take actionable steps to bring our faith to life by applying and implementing truth in our homes, at our jobs, and within our communities.
How about you? Is God working on this “chapter” with you? Do you want to be a part of His bigger story, a part of the history of what God is doing in the world? Perhaps He is calling you to join Working Women of Faith and to come together to advance your purpose with His purposes “…for such a time as this?”? (Esther 4:14b).
