Big thinking. It’s the kind of thinking that can make airplanes fly, electricity turn on and my dishwasher wash the dishes for me. Without people who can think big, our lives would look a lot different. The modern day amenities we enjoy, wouldn’t exist. I wouldn’t even be able to write this article and have people read it halfway around the world.
Is there something you are struggling to “think big” about? Is there a problem or obstacle you are facing that seems insurmountable? Or maybe you are simply struggling to balance all of the obligations in your life in a way that is efficient and smart. You are stuck. And you need help.
What do you do? Do you turn to your friends or spouse? Do you google your problem to find a solution? Do you consult the wisdom of the great thinkers of our day to come up with a way to tackle it? Who is your “go-to”?

The good news is that you don’t have to have the mind of a genius inventor in order to come up with a big thought. You already know the One who thinks bigger than anyone ever has, and He’s here to help you.
Look at this truth about God:
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
Take a look at the stars in the night sky. They are millions of light years away. Far beyond our reach. Far beyond the realm of possibly touching. That is how God’s thoughts and ways are compared to ours.
- God is the ultimate source of truth.
- God alone has all the answers.
- God wants to help you with both.
When you have a big problem, you need big thinking. God is the biggest thinker there is.
I often vacillate between dependence on God and independence in my own abilities. Because of this struggle, God often puts me in places where my abilities and thinking count for squat. Can you relate?
He wants to provide me with the best answer for the situation and strengthen my dependence on Him in the process.
When we are willing to surrender and lean into God, we will have all the answers we need, when we need them.
Are you willing?
Are you ready to think BIG?
