Mistakes-we all make them. Maybe you have made several this week already. Maybe you don’t want to be reminded of your failures. Maybe your mistakes are the best thing that can happen to you.
We all need mistakes. They remind us that we are human. Without mistakes, we can get arrogant and overconfident. Without mistakes, we wouldn’t see our need God’s mercy and grace. And let’s face it, we all need God’s mercy and grace.
As a working woman of faith, how do you handle your mistakes in the workplace to which you are called?
- Do you try to cover them up?
- Do your best to hide them and hope that no one ever finds out?
- Do you point your finger at someone else, attempting to shift the blame and focus away from yourself?
Or do you own them? If we are to follow the example of Christ, who never made a mistake-ever, then we need to take the way of humility. By owning your mistakes, you show clear evidence that you are set apart, different. People who do not name the Name of Christ attempt to cover, hide, and pin their mistakes on others. You are called to be different.
What does owning your mistakes look like?
-Openly admit them.
-Ask for forgiveness from God, and others.
-Do whatever you can to correct the mistake.
-Learn from them.
-Ask God to help you not repeat them.
Simple in theory, hard to practice. I know. But if you do this, you will shine your light in the workplace like never before. You will stand apart, and yes, stand out as different. And God will honor your humble actions and attitude. He will lift you up.
One of the greatest things about this faith walk with God, is that he is merciful.

He never gives up on us, no matter how many times we mess up. His mercies are new every morning, and they are abundant enough to handle your mistakes. Walk in that truth today.
