This week’s verse for the week, is one of those powerful truths that you need to take with you
every day of every week.
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him..”
(Philippians 2:13 NLT)
It is short and sweet, but powerful.
Prior to this verse God, through the apostle Paul, is telling the believers to work hard to show the results of their salvation and to obey God with deep fear and respect.
That’s the hard stuff. Work, obedience, fear and respect. Those are the difficult things that we try hard to do but fail every day when we attempt to do them in our own power. In fact, some days we don’t even have a desire to do them.
This is why the verse for the week is such a blessing.
When its hard for us to obey; when we are too tired to work hard; we can rest.
Rest in the knowledge of this truth:
God is working in us, both giving us the desire and the power to please Him.
God’s power makes the hard stuff easy.
Desire without power is fruitless.
Power without desire is pointless.
God gives both. Why?
[Tweet “God honestly, truly wants to see us succeed.”]
He desires to see us experience the power that comes from a life lived close to Him.
He longs for us to see Him working in us, so they we can realize how deeply he loves us.
Whatever He is calling you to do this week, know that He is giving you the desire and the power to please Him.
And pleasing God is what its all about.
