- Do you ever feel like giving up?
- Do you ever wonder when your breakthrough is coming?
- Do you think your past failures disqualify you from future blessings?
If so, you’re not alone. Everyone can say that they have “been there, done that”. We all face those feelings at different times and seasons of our lives.
Why would you be any different from the rest of the world?
The great news is that:
- There is no past that God can’t heal.
- There is no failure that God can’t redeem.
- There is no obstacle that God can’t conquer.
THAT is the kind of God we serve. And that is what our verse for the week ahead is all about, forgetting what’s behind and pressing forward to what’s beyond.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
(Philippians 3:13-14 NLT)
Are you pressing on to reach the end or looking back?
Are you focusing on what you did wrong or what God does right?
Do you spend more time regretting the past than receiving the future God has for you?
[Tweet “God wants us to learn from our past, not cling to it.”]
The past is comfortable. We know the past. It’s familiar to us.
The future is unknown, untested, and downright scary.
Fear holds us in the past, but God is already in the future.
We can press on to reach the end of the race God has for us, because to God the future is already here.
We can press on to receive what God has in store for us with no fear, knowing He’s already there.
Are you ready?
Are you ready to forget your past and press on towards what’s ahead?
Whatever may be holding you back, let go of it, lay it at the cross, give it to God and and finish the race.
