I love a good story, don’t you?
There’s nothing like cracking a good book on a chilly night and getting lost in the beauty of another’s life with a cozy blanket wrapped around me and a good tea in hand.
I used to wish I was a storyteller like those whose words I devoured in anticipation of the what tasty morsel I might find on the next page.
Then one day I realized I am a storyteller, and so are you. We are all storytellers.
We may not tell the stories that win a Pulitzer prize, but instead we get to tell the stories that can change lives forever. I call them God stories. These stories are written by God and they are unique to each one of us. And I love them even more than those written by humans and sandwiched between a cover and printed with ink.
God stories are the stories He personally writes in our lives and on our hearts. And each one is a beautiful work of art, just like you. God is the author of the stories on our lives. He has gathered all of those stories into His cherished book of us. Look at this:
“You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.” (Psalm 139:16 NLT)
God laid out the stories of your life in perfect harmony with His perfect plan for you.
Sharing your God stories is the most important thing you can do with them. That is what brings God glory. That is why He made you a storyteller.
When I start telling people the God stories of my life, they get goosebumps (or Holy Ghostbumps, as I like to call them). They say things like, “Wow!”, and “That’s incredible!”. And I know that when they leave me, God has been lifted up, and their faith has been strengthened. That’s why I love telling my God stories.
When is the last time you thought about your God stories that way? Have you stopped to look over the stories God has written in your life and seen His penmanship? Do you hold your God stories inside, hiding them like an unpublished masterpiece of a manuscript?
What are you waiting for? You have a story that needs to be told, one that others need to hear. Don’t hold it in any longer!
[Tweet “We are all storytellers, tell yours.”]
Whenever I need to be reminded of God’s stories in my life,I listen to one of my favorite songs:
I wish I could sit with you over a cup of coffee and tell you some of my God stories, and listen to yours.
How about you share one of your God stories in the comments, and give Him glory while lifting us up?
