How would you rate your boss on a scale of 1-10? I’m sure there was a number that immediately popped into your head, and I doubt it was a 10. Why is that? Because we are all human, including your boss. Let’s face it, you might not be the “world’s best employee” either.
I give my boss… a 100 gazillion, kajillion, bazillion. And I don’t say that because I am self-empIoyed. I literally have the world’s best boss! And so do you!
If you are thinking only on the human realm, you would have reason to argue with me. However, you don’t work for the person with the position just above yours, you work for God Almighty.
Part of being a working woman of faith is realizing that the work you do is not solely for your boss, or for the company that employs you. You work for the God of the universe, who put you into the position you are in within the workplace.
This reality that our work can be for the purpose of bringing glory to God will either be scary or liberating for you depending on your relationship with God. If you know that God always has your highest and best in mind, that He delights in you, and rejoices over you, then working your job calling to please Him will lighten your load of people-pleasing, and self-induced stress. This truth can make your Monday better!
Consider the truth of Zephaniah 3:17-
Wow. Just re-read that truth and let it sink in.
That is how your Boss thinks of you everyday. Whether you have a good day, or a bad day. Whether you blow it, or perform to your full-potential.
God is good. He can’t be anything except good.
- His goodness draws us to repent.
- His goodness gives us strength each day.
- His goodness has placed us into our job calling.
- His goodness forgives our mistakes.
- His goodness lasts forever.
Can you go into your job calling this week with a different attitude and work ethic if you know and believe that you have a boss like that? Don’t you want to please a boss that is good all the time? To seek to please Him-and Him alone-in all that we do, including our work, is easy when we think of His goodness.
Here’s another truth from God’s word that shows who we really work for:
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24 NLT)
Step into this week with a new-found excitement as you carry this truth with you into the job where our good God has placed you!
You have the world’s best boss! -Literally.
