Oops, I did it again. I messed up another perfectly good day that the Lord gave me.
- Patience was short
- Procrastination was long
- Motivation was somewhere in between
Something was off, and when I look back, it wasn’t any one’s fault but my own. So what now? Should I wallow in my failures? Will I declare that I just can’t do anything right? Do I give up?
Ahh, God always has the answers, doesn’t He?
“The faithful love of the LORD never ends!
His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
I like to call this, “the do-over” verse.
You remember do-overs, right? You were playing with hopscotch or double dutch with your friends, you messed up and then declared in your authoritarian little voice, “Do-Over!” And promptly took another try.
God loves to give us “do-overs”! Every time we mess up and come to Him and repent, He wipes away all stains of our short-comings and declares a do-over on our behalf.
- With every new sunrise
- With every admission of guilt
- With every acknowledgement of inability
- With every acquisition of humility…
…we face a another chance.
Another opportunity to rest in the grace of God, instead of striving in the rule of law. Another opportunity to admit that He is God, and we are not. That He controls to universe and orders our steps. Another opportunity to hide in the shadow of His wings.
It’s a new morning-take the do-over.
